Justin Clapham

Business experience that shapes the questions

Justin Clapham is a finance professional, entrepreneur and board director with more than 30 years of experience across banking, trust and corporate services, funds, treasury and investments. He has held senior executive and non-executive positions in Jersey and London, bringing together strategic leadership, operational responsibility and an understanding of how regulated businesses work.

That breadth matters when assessing AI. A promising tool is only part of the picture. The business also needs to understand the problem it is solving, the quality of its information, the controls around its use and who remains accountable for the result.

From the boardroom to day-to-day operations

Justin’s career has included leading a regulated banking business, working in global markets leadership in London, overseeing director services across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and managing investment and private wealth operations. Earlier experience in treasury trading and stockbroking adds a practical understanding of financial markets and the information that supports decisions.

His operational leadership has extended across fund accounting, client due diligence, treasury, payments, financial reporting and business support. He has also worked on governance models, technology change and operational resilience. This gives him a grounded view of the connections between board priorities, regulatory requirements and the processes teams carry out every day.

For a CEO, CFO, COO or other senior decision-maker, the value is a conversation that starts with business needs: where time is lost, where information is difficult to reconcile, where judgement is essential and what a useful improvement would look like.

Industry knowledge meets practical technology

Justin’s professional background is in finance and business leadership. He does not work in IT by trade; his technical capability has developed through practical application and a longstanding passion for technology, operations, automation and AI. He brings hands-on experience of using those tools to solve practical problems.

He has been applying AI since 2020. His work includes reusable AI instructions, coordinated specialist agents, executive briefings, document comparison, financial spreadsheets and email-to-output workflows involving extraction, OCR and validation. The practical examples on this website explain the work and its review boundaries in more detail.

W2AI sits at the intersection of three complementary strengths: industry knowledge, governance and operational judgement, and practical technical capability. Justin can help translate a business requirement into a workable approach, test what the tools can do and recognise where specialist technical expertise or further assurance is needed.

Three overlapping strengths: industry knowledge; governance and operational judgement; practical technical capability
Business understanding. Responsible judgement. Practical delivery.

Governance as part of practical delivery

Justin’s board and executive experience informs how he approaches AI adoption. Confidentiality, information security, evidence quality, accountability and appropriate human review are part of designing a useful workflow.

His approach connects strategic ambition with manageable implementation: identify an opportunity, define the boundaries, build and test a solution, then support its adoption. AI should help people make better use of their knowledge, with clear responsibility for decisions and proportionate checks on outputs.
